Cunning Linguistics

The RSA has done an awesome animation of a Steven Pinker lecture on "indirect speech acts". Sounds fancy, but it's really a simple concept and beautifully illustrated by this video.

If you are a student of linguistics, this should be especially interesting, but either way you're in for a treat.

  7. wow this is really great. It's interesting how if I was just listening to this guy speak I would be bored in like a minute or two, but with the illustration going along with it it holds my interest for the entire video!

Also, whoever is doing the illustrating is crazy talented!

Pinker sounds a lovely guy too, I particularly like his casual leaning over speech bubbles:)
