OMG! Original Content!
I made this portrait a while back. It's a pixelated Rory Calhoun in red pencil and it was supposed to be the first in a series of artworks based on obscure Simpsons quotes. However, I only ever made two. If you like, I can post the second one some time. Also, I know his mouth looks a bit weird, but overall I think it turned out okay.
Can you guess which episode inspired me?

Fun With Lunar Distance
If the earth was the size of a basketball how far would the tennis ball (standing in for the moon, of course) have to be from it to accurately depict the distance between earth and moon? Further than you might think.
You can do the math yourself. The diameter of the earth is about 8,000 miles. The distance between moon and earth is about 240,000 miles. The tennis ball would hence have to be at a distance of 30 times the diameter of the basketball, about 23,5 feet.
Wow. Somehow it looks much closer on Doctor Who.

Cunning Linguistics
The RSA has done an awesome animation of a Steven Pinker lecture on "indirect speech acts". Sounds fancy, but it's really a simple concept and beautifully illustrated by this video.
If you are a student of linguistics, this should be especially interesting, but either way you're in for a treat.

It's the website that makes Glenn Beck completely dispensable. Now we can come up with our own crazy theories.
Also disregard the fact that it's in Comic Sans.

What the Fuck Is Wrong With You?!
"I really don't believe in abortion." - Justin Bieber in Rolling Stone Magazine
Even in the case of rape: "Um. Well, I think that's really sad, but everything happens for a reason."
Fuck you, because it doesn't. Of course, he's just a fucking kid and he doesn't know what the fuck he's talking about, but still. I know, I probably shouldn't get this upset about this little fucktard, but then I think about how many more people there are who believe the same shit.
I sure hope he's keeping up the abstinence thing. We wouldn't want any more of those. Also, I think it's time for Canada to issue an officially apology for him.

Subway Station For Sale
Has it been a life-long dream of yours to live in an abandoned tube station in London? Well, it's your lucky day because there's one for sale and the bidding starts at £ 180,000 for a 1,600 square feet property. I'm no realter, but that sounds like a bargain for a place in London.
Just imagine taking your showers in a subway bathroom. Maybe put the kitchen in the ticket area. The coolest thing ever, of course, would be to have an actual subway car as a bedroom.

How To Hold On To A Girl
Get her addicted to you. Literally. I mean, it works for pimps right? Although it would be sort of awkward if she found out about it after 20 years of marriage.

John Hughes Artshow
Gallery 1988 in Santa Monica is currently having an exhibit entitled "The Road to Shermer", which is essentially a John Hughes tribute. They recently put up all the artwork on their website and if you're a fan of the movies, you should definitely check it out.

Fox News
Does it bug you that this channel will basically put anything on the air and yet I never see any interesting news about foxes. False fucking advertising, motherfucker!
I am currently contemplating starting a recurring 'News about Foxes' segment. I suppose it depends on how much there is to report on but I guess we'll see. For now, here's some fox news.
City Foxes
As you may or may not know, foxes are starting to inhabit human settlements more and more. Same as any animal that does this, they do it for the easy access to our discarded food. According to this Austrian news site, there are an estimated 15,000 foxes in London alone.
The article goes on to desribe some gruesome shit they're blaming on the foxes (like a cat that got its head bit off), but seriously, look at that picture. How can you get mad at that cute little fellow?!

The End of an Era
Activision has now officially announced that they will disband the Guitar Hero series. Apparently, due to a decline in its popularity, it no longer warrants the costs for music licenses and hardware manufacturing. A new game scheduled to be released in 2011 has bee scrapped.
However, there might be hope for fans of the games yet as experts feel relatively optimistic about a revival - possibly on the next generation of video game consoles.
To a certain extent I am glad. I mean the series jumped the shark a long time ago and the quality of the song selection has been going downhill ever since 'World Tour'.

Between Two Ferns
There is a new episode of the ingenious (fake) talk show hosted by the great Zach Galifianakis. If you don't already know this show, I strongly suggest, you check it out on FoD because it is fucking hilarious. Some of his previous guests are Natalie Portman, Bruce Willis, Michael Cera and many more. This time, Zach is talking to Tila Tequila and special guest Jennifer Aniston.
One of my favourite quotes (from his interview with John Hamm):
- I understand you won a Golden Globe award.
- I did.
- Mark that under who gives a shit.

My Bionic Arm
I broke my elbow I while back and after they took the cast off they gave me the nifty device you see in the pictures below. Me and my brother decided to trick it out a bit.
Party Time! Excellent!
Mike Myers and Dana Carvey reprise their roles as Wayne and Garth on last Saturday's episode of SNL, where thy presented their Oscar picks. Boy, they're really running out of ideas.

Is it going to happen, or not? Fact is, it probably won't and this is just the actors fucking around on set. If you'd prefer to see Troy and Jeff as a couple, check the link below. In the meanwhile let's just enjoy the awesomeness of it all. I hope this show goes on forever. Did you guys see the D&D episode? Amazing!
